A bit of history
According to tradition, the name comes from an old general store painted with lime ("la blanqueada") that served as a landmark on the road leading east out of the city.
Throughout the 20th century, the neighborhood was filled with family homes and local businesses, and in recent years, it has seen the addition of many new housing developments.
